Flower Power

At last all can be revealed - this is where all those bright flowery bits ended up. Two new framed pieces made with the Flower Stitcher attachment on my long-suffering Bernina.

I love little motifs like these when they’re suspended above the background and spot lit so that they cast interesting shadows, adding depth and life. So tricky to photograph though – I can never get the shadows I want without others I don’t!

Sample Diary – April

Another month gone! Maybe I’ll keep this up after all… I’ve let myself off the hook a bit by deciding to work a week behind.

So here they are, April’s textile doodles, one quickie sample per week inspired by a picture in the newspaper.

1, Pennine sunset, red with Saharan dust. Felt, wool tops, embellisher.

2, Joan Miro exhibition. Free machining.
3, Wisteria. Free machining, cable stitch with pearl cotton.

4, Leaning tower of Pisa, applique and machine embroidery.

Work in progress

Making dozens of these flowery bits for a new framed piece. Nothing subtle or meaningful here, I just felt like piling on the bright colours and pretty shapes, it must be this amazing spring weather. They should cast lovely shadows when I float them on wires.
